Job summary

North Reading Public Schools is seeking a full-time General Education Teacher for the RISE Program at J. Turner Hood Elementary School in North Reading, MA.

  • Develop engaging lesson plans and instructional materials with differentiated instruction.
  • Monitor student progress using ongoing assessment and data to inform decisions.
  • Communicate with families regarding curriculum, progress, and activities.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and professional learning opportunities.

Job Description

The J. Turner Hood Elementary School is seeking a full time General Education Teacher to support students in our RISE Program, a specialized elementary program designed to meet the needs of diverse learners beginning in school year 2026-2027. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

This unique position serves as a bridge between general and special education by providing standards-based instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks while collaborating closely with grade-level teams and special education staff.

The teacher works to ensure students have meaningful access to grade-level curriculum and opportunities to learn in the least restrictive environment (LRE) whenever appropriate.

This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about inclusive education, values collaboration, and is committed to ensuring that all students have equitable access to rigorous grade-level instruction while receiving the individualized supports they need to succeed.

North Reading Public School Educators first contractual day is September 1, 2026. New educators are required to attend the two day new staff orientation on dates still to be determined.

Essential duties

  • Provide high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks to students in the RISE Program
  • Collaborate with grade-level general education teachers to align curriculum, pacing, instructional practices, and classroom experiences across settings
  • Partner with special education teachers to design and implement instruction that meets students' individualized needs while maintaining access to grade-level expectations
  • Support students in accessing learning opportunities within general education classrooms in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and least restrictive environment (LRE) goals
  • Develop engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that differentiate instruction to meet a variety of learning needs
  • Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment, data collection, and progress monitoring, using data to inform instructional decisions
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding curriculum, student progress, and classroom activities
  • Participate in collaborative planning, IEP meetings, and professional learning opportunities
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes student independence, confidence, and academic growth
  • Other duties as determined by the building Principal, Director of Student Services, or their Designee

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Masters Degree preferred
