Job summary

New London Public Schools seeks a GED instructor for its Adult & Continuing Education program in New London. You will help adult learners prepare to pass the GED exams and build foundational skills in math, science, English, and social studies.

Position Overview:

To help students learn subjects to pass the GED exams.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instruct students on material needed in order to earn their GED.
• Teach basic skills encompassing math, science, English, and Social Studies.
• Help students prepare and study for GED exams.
• Assess students' readiness to take exam.
• Create projects designed to enhance lectures.
• Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
• Work with program lead to ensure initiatives are being met.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Observe and evaluate student's performance.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom.
• As set by the State certification requirements for the teaching area: GED (107)
• 1-2 years of experience teaching GED
• Prior experiences working in an environment with adult learners

Preferred Requirements:

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.
