Qualifications

  • Georgia certification must be held or be eligible for GaDOE Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments certification.
  • Experience with vision-related education and supporting students with blindness or visual impairments.
  • W2 employment status and eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Providing itinerant vision-related education services to students with blindness or visual impairments.
  • Delivering individualized instruction, including Braille and orientation & mobility skills.
  • Assessing student needs and developing appropriate learning materials and accommodations.
  • Adapting curriculum, classroom environments, and materials to ensure accessibility.
  • Being an active IEP team member, writing goals, and monitoring progress.
  • Conducting functional vision and learning media assessments.
  • Planning and implementing lessons tailored to specific eye conditions.
  • Maintaining accurate records and submitting required reports to schools and families.
  • Acquiring and delivering adaptive equipment, books, and administering assessments with recommendations.
  • Collaborating with teachers, service providers, and families to support inclusion and student success.
