Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan for development of the whole child with activities across social, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual areas and prepare lesson plans.
• Create a positive learning environment using available resources and prepare materials as needed.
• Provide quiet, sensory, and vigorous activities to stimulate development.
• Document each child's needs, progress, strengths, and interests for families and staff.
• Assist children with daily living activities such as handwashing, eating, and restroom use.
• Maintain a safe, attractive classroom that invites exploration.
• Regularly clean and inspect toys and equipment for safety and usability.
• Supervise, train, and guide assistant teachers.

Job description

Help provide a safe, developmentally appropriate, and nurturingenvironment for a class of 4 and 5 year old children.

Position Responsibilities

• Plan for the development of the whole child by choosing activities in all areas-social, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual and prepare daily/weekly lesson plans that are both flexible and consistent
• Enable a positive learning environment by creative use of all available resources and prepare additional materials when needed
• Provide a balanced program of quiet, sensory experiences and vigorous activities that stimulate their development
• Recognize andteach to each individual child's needs and parents' goals, and document individual child's needs, development, strengths, and interests
• Assist children with activities of daily life (handwashing, eating, and restroom use)
• Create and maintain an attractive, well-kept, safe classroom that encourages children to create and explore
• Regularly clean and check over toys and equipment to see that they are functioning properly
• Supervise, train, and guide assistant teachers.

• Work experience in church nurseries, schools, day camps, or daycare settings preferred
• Able to lift up to 35 pounds in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations
• Criminal background check, child safety interview, child safeguard review, and professional references required
