Job summary

ANEW Chemical Health Services in Minnesota is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support developmentally appropriate curriculum and supervise toddlers in a safe, engaging environment.

You will assist with diapering, feeding, and basic care while promoting physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development; collaborate with lead staff and communicate with families; and help prepare learning centers and activities.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is required.
• Experience with toddlers in childcare preferred.
• Knowledge of infant development and age-appropriate practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, compassion, and love for working with toddlers.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Ability to pass a background check and comply with state licensing requirements.

• Engage children in age-appropriate play and learning experiences.
• Monitor safety during transitions and activities.
• Document children’s progress and communicate with Lead Teachers and parents as directed.

• Assist Leads, Teachers, and Director in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children
• Help maintain a clean, safe and organized classroom environment, including sanitizing toys, organizing materials, and ensuring all areas are free of hazards
• Supervise children during playtime, meals, and other daily routines to ensure their safety and wellbeing
• Prepare and distribute classroom supplies.
• Assist with setting up and cleaning up learning centers and materials
• Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding and other basic care routines as needed
• Engage children in ageappropriate play and learning experiences that promote their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development
• Follow the guidance of Leads, Teachers, and Director in managing classroom behavior and addressing any challenges that arise
• Facilitate small group activities and provide individual attention to children.
• Read stories to children and engage them in ageappropriate activities
• Actively monitor children during playtime and transitions to ensure safety.
• Observe and document children’s behavior, progress, and milestones, and communicate findings to Lead Teachers and parents as directed
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth classroom operations
• Support children's learning through handson experiences and exploration
• Support open and positive communication with parents, including providing updates on their child’s day and assisting with any questions or concerns
• Maintain accurate records of children's progress and daily observations
• Collaborate with other staff members to plan and implement special events, field trips, and holiday celebrations
• Assist with other duties as assigned by Lead Teachers or program administrators
• Enforce classroom rules and manage behavior issues with guidance from the lead teacher.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
• Ensure children's hygiene needs are met

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required
• Previous experience working with toddlers in a childcare setting preferred
• Knowledge of infant development and ageappropriate practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, families, and colleagues
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with toddlers
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to pass a background check and comply with state licensing requirements
