Job description

Teacher Development Field Coach
Overview

We are currently recruiting highly qualified candidates for part time, in‑person Teacher Development Field Coaches for National Louis University's Undergraduate College (UGC) Educator Preparation Program. In addition to filling immediate coaching needs, we aim to continue to build a strong network of prospective teacher development field coaches who can be called upon as needed in the future.

These in‑person coaches will serve as important NLU/UGC Ed Prep representatives to school/district partners, and will provide in‑person and virtual support to a caseload of early childhood, elementary, and/or secondary teacher candidates (4‑6 students) over the course of a 10‑week quarter term.

NLU's Undergraduate College:

We are a team of dedicated educators who have been working together to build an amazing program that supports first‑generation students with a focus on the holistic student. We work fearlessly to educate and retain our students. As a result, we have exceeded national benchmarks through our approach to holistic coaching and data‑driven, personalized instruction. Our educational model is student‑focused, expects excellence, provides personalized support in a data‑driven environment, while grounded by pillars of continuous improvement and innovation to structure our work.

We are seeking someone who is energetic and passionate about a diverse student body that includes many first‑generation students. To be successful teaching in this program, you must be committed to excellence in teaching and learning in Higher Education. The position requires you to be agile, creative and engaging while offering a new curriculum and an unparalleled experience to undergraduate students. Enthusiastic candidates have the belief that all students can be successful.

As an active team member, you believe in a supportive environment and a student‑driven culture. You will offer best‑in‑class teaching and learning, facilitate blended classes that utilize technology and data to drive instruction, work with a dedicated team of Coaches and Instructors, Content Experts and Data Analysts to personalize the learning experience for your students, and encourage growth mindset and non‑cognitive skill development.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct in‑person teaching observations and feedback sessions (2 per 10‑week term) at teacher candidates' assigned center/school location following NLU protocols.
  • Facilitate ongoing virtual discussions regarding student goals, assessments, and other course requirements with the site‑based mentor teacher and teacher candidate.
  • Provide feedback on assignments to student teachers utilizing Brightspace/D2L and/or GoReact software.
  • Serve as a liaison between NLU and the center/school/district by developing relationships with site leadership and mentor teachers that support and enhance NLU's mission and goals.
  • Attend required NLU/UGC Ed Prep professional development (additional stipend provided).
Qualifications
  • Master's degree required.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish).
  • State of Illinois licensure preferred (Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary Language Arts, Secondary Mathematics).
  • Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Prior instructional coaching/mentor teaching experience preferred.

Must be able to travel for in‑person coaching positions (mileage reimbursements provided).

This position is contracted by term and per student on an as‑needed basis.
