Responsibilities

• Teach knowledge and skills in Business Essentials, Microsoft courses, Marketing courses, and Career Development
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and state-mpecified subjects and procedures
• Develop lesson plans and organize daily classes within the allotted time
• Prepare instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning
• Instruct pupils in use, care, and safe operation of computers; perform minor repairs as needed
• Maintain attendance records and daily reports
• Manage district-owned office equipment and supplies
• Establish standards of pupil behavior for a productive lab environment
• Instruct pupils on accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness and good work habits
• Evaluate pupil performance and provide progress reports and references
• Maintain contact with business community for job-entry requirements
• Evaluate, select and requisition books and materials; maintain inventory
• Perform heavy lifting as required
• Other duties as assigned

Monthly Salary: Teacher State Salary Schedule (plus local supplement)

FLSA: EXEMPT

Qualifications/Requirements: Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license in the appropriate licensure area: (760) Business, Finance and Information Technology or (730) Marketing Education

Goal: To develop in each pupil an understanding of computer skills and career development; and to encourage pupils to develop work and personal habits essential for postsecondary success.

Duties:

• Teach knowledge and skills in one or more of the following subjects to high school students: Business Essentials, Microsoft courses Marketing courses, and Career Development. Uses course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
• Develop lesson plans and organize daily classes so that demonstration, instruction, and practice can be completed within the allotted time
• Prepare appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning
• Instruct pupils in use, care, and safe operation of computers. Make minor adjustments and requests repairs to equipment as required
• Maintain an auditable record of pupil attendance and make daily reports
• Control assigned district-owned office equipment and supplies to prevent loss or abuse
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the laboratory-type classroom where several kinds of activities may be taking place simultaneously
• Instruct pupils in importance to employers of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits
• Evaluate each pupil’s performance, knowledge, and skills in course being taught and prepare pupil progress reports and employment references
• Maintain continued contact with business community to keep in touch with job entry requirements and current business methods and equipment
• Evaluate, select, and requisition books, instructional aids, equipment, and instructional supplies and maintain required inventory records
• Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
• Other duties as assigned
