Job summary

Buffalo Public Schools is seeking a Teacher/Coordinator for the Hospital Instruction Program. The incumbent will liaise with hospital staff to deliver instructional services to hospital-bound students and coordinate across district and out-of-district settings to ensure continuity of learning during hospitalization.

The role requires current Elementary or Secondary Education certification, with preferred dual certification in Mathematics, ELA, Science, or Social Studies 7-12, and will operate

• Assess and evaluate academic and developmental needs of hospital-bound students and provide instruction accordingly.
• Provide continuity to the instructional program until the student transitions from the hospital and returns to traditional instruction.
• Provide school personnel with information on student’s academic progress and health status to facilitate continuity when the student returns to school.

DUTIES: The Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) Education Bargain with Student and Parents focuses on providing students and parents with a pathway to opportunities that will lead to achievement and success. Services for our Neediest Children and Families serves as one of the focus areas of the district in executing its commitment to students and parents. Under the direction of the Director of Crisis Prevention and Intervention Support and the Supervisor of Student Support Services (Alternative Instruction), the Teacher/Coordinator will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

• Liaison with school, parents, and hospital staff to deliver appropriate instructional services to hospital-bound students during the school day.
• Coordinate and deliver instructional services for hospital-bound students that may be out-of-district residents at the direction of the BPS District.
• Assess and evaluate academic and developmental needs of hospital-bound students and provide instruction accordingly.
• Provide continuity to the instructional program until the student transitions from the hospital and returns to traditional instruction.
• Provide school personnel with information on student’s academic progress and health status to facilitate continuity when the student returns to school.

APPOINTMENT: The Board of Education will make appointments upon the Superintendent's recommendation, following an assessment of training, experience, credentials, and service. BTF contractual agreement on seniority will be followed. Interviews may be conductedwhen deemed necessary.
