Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Director or designee, the teacher is responsible for providing an engaging and secure learning environment in which children can expand their knowledge and skills through a variety of experiences and interactions which form a foundation for school readiness and later school success.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education/Experience: A combination of formal education, life experience, and work experience are considered when evaluating qualifications. A Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field with a valid Child Development Site Supervisor Permit is required. Must meet Title 22 licensing standards. Knowledge of child development, family interaction and community resources is desired. A minimum of three years recent experience in Early Care and Education Programs is required. For the Tahoe centers, a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field with a valid Child Development Site Supervisor Permit is preferred. An Associate of Arts degree in Child Development or related field may be considered with an Educational Plan to complete a Bachelor’s Degree within two years. For the State Preschool Full Day programs, a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field with a valid Child Development Site Supervisor Permit is preferred. An Associate of Arts degree in Child Development or related field may be considered.
