North Reading High School is seeking a Chemistry Teacher to begin in the 2025-2026 school year. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.
We are seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Chemistry educator, preferably with dual licensure in Chemistry and Technology/Engineering, to join our high school faculty. The successful candidate will inspire and challenge students by delivering engaging, rigorous instruction in both content areas, preparing them for college and career success in STEM fields.
North Reading Public School Educators first contractual day is September 2, 2025. New educators are required to attend the two day new staff orientation on dates still to be determined.
Essential duties
- Develop and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with state and national standards in Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Technology/Engineering
- Design and implement hands-on, inquiry-based laboratory experiments and engineering design challenges
- Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technology to promote critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Direct instruction of students
- Foster a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning for a diverse student body
- Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing meaningful feedback
- Be available to conference with parents/guardians and families as needed or requested
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance, attendance, and communication with families
- Collaborate with colleagues, including department teams, to align curriculum and integrate interdisciplinary approaches
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with advancements in science, engineering, and education best practices
- Establish and maintain appropriate safety measures for classroom and laboratory
- Serve as a mentor and role model for students, encouraging their interest in STEM-related careers
- Interest in supporting extracurricular STEM activities, such as World of STEM, robotics clubs, science fairs, or engineering competitions, preferred
- Other duties as requested by the Building Principal or designee
Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Chemistry, grades 8-12
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Technology/Engineering, grades 5-12, preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative working demeanor
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and engage high school students in Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Technology/Engineering
- Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction and familiarity with laboratory safety protocols
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
