Primary Purpose:
Support special education services through consultation and modeling of research-based behavior analytic practices. Promote quality instruction and services to improve student achievement. Facilitate behavioral and social skills development strategies through staff development, modeling, observation, and data analysis.
Qualifications:
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge and skills in developing and implementing interventions based on Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Experience in goal setting, data collection, and strategy adjustment based on data analysis.
- Knowledge of ARD and IEP processes and goal-setting.
Experience:
- At least three years working with school-aged children with disabilities, autism, or developmental delays.
- Experience with functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, and emergency interventions.
Preference:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in relevant content area(s).
- BCBA certification preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
- Implement individual services aligned with BIP and IEP goals.
- Assist with classroom structure and behavior strategies, including visual supports and reward systems.
- Model ABA strategies, de-escalation, and visual supports.
- Provide modeling and training to staff and students.
- Help create a conducive learning environment.
- Support enforcement of school rules and discipline.
- De-escalate and intervene in crisis situations, including physical restraint if necessary.
- Lead professional development on behavior and social skills.
Consultation
- Assist with developing strategies and materials for IEP/BIP implementation.
- Collaborate with staff to evaluate and adjust interventions based on data.
- Consult regularly with relevant stakeholders.
- Manage BIPs, IEPs, and data collection effectively.
- Develop support and follow-up plans for long-term cases.
Communication
- Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Communicate clearly in oral and written forms.
- Handle stressful situations professionally.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent physical activities including standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. May need to assist students physically and handle biological hazards. Reassignment possible based on district needs.
