Job summary

Dallas ISD at Milam Elementary is seeking a Teacher Assistant-Duty Free to support instructional staff and help maintain a structured learning environment.

You will assist in classroom activities, manage student arrival/departure, tutor students in small groups, and help file and track attendance and records, while upholding high standards of safety and collaboration with teachers, staff, and families.

Qualifications

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency).
• Associate degree, 48 college credit hours or pass an academic assessment.
• Paraprofessional certificate from State Board of Certification.
• Proficient in basic communication techniques and language.
• Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents and the public.
• Demonstrated initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must possess good writing skills and communicate effectively with students, parents and employees.
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with a rapidly changing world and stay current with developments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in intensified learning experiences and relieve teachers of non-instructional duties.
• Assist in managing student arrival and departure times.
• Provide supportive tasks for certified teachers that are primarily non-instructional.
• Help students and teachers achieve program objectives.
• Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist in filing, organizing materials, and recording information.
• Maintain student records, attendance, and files.
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Ensure regular and punctual attendance at the worksite.
