Description

Teacher Assistant needed for Title I funded district program. Title 1 funds are available to support positions. Teacher assistants will provide targeted academic interventions in English at freshmen and sophomore levels. The assistant will work specifically with teachers of freshmen and English classes to support instruction, primarily in small groups outside of the classroom setting. They will monitor student progress on common unit assessments and retakes, providing regular reports to identified staff members.

Qualifications

• NCLB/Paraprofessional Approval
• Strong English background, with ability to facilitate re-teaching and both small-group and individualized academic interventions
• Ability to assist teachers with instruction of small groups of students in various English lessons
• Ability to relate effectively with and supervise students
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a teaching team to analyze data from assessments and address targeted areas of remediation
• Ability to communicate with parents
• Ability to maintain accurate records related to student progress and communication with staff
