Qualifications

• Education: An earned associate's degree from an accredited institution OR at least 60 semester hours of college credit from an accredited institution.
• Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience within the last five (5) years working with children is preferred.

OR

• Education: Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved GED Testing Program.
• Experience: Same as above.

Additional Requirements

• Successful completion of the Teacher Assisting Curriculum at the designated technical college in the Broward County School District.
• Passing score on the Para Pro Assessment Test or other sanctioned standard tests demonstrating ability to assist in instructing reading/language arts, writing, and mathematics, or related areas.
• Computer skills.

Preferences

• Six (6) earned semester hours in Human Growth and Development.
• Bilingual skills.

Essential Performance Responsibilities

If assigned to an ESE classroom with ESE students, may provide assistance with activities of daily living, including:

• Assisting with personal hygiene and restroom functions, including diapering or catheterization.
• Providing mobility assistance such as lifting, positioning, or transferring students.
• Assisting with seizure control activities.
• Assisting with feeding needs, including suctioning.
• Assisting with adaptive equipment needs.
• Providing behavioral assistance, utilizing positive crisis intervention techniques.

Compensation and Additional Details

Hourly Rate: $16.40 – $22.46 per hour

Work Calendar: 188B

Pay Grade: 13

New hires will be hired at the minimum of the hourly range.
