Base pay range

$16.00/hr - $16.00/hr

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: An earned Associates degree from an accredited institution, or at least 60 semester hours of college credit from an accredited institution.
• OR
• EDUCATION: Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved GED Testing Program.
• REQUIRED: Successful completion of the Teacher Assisting Curriculum at the designated technical college in the Broward County School District and a passing score on the ParaPro Test or other standard tests to demonstrate proficiency in reading/language arts, writing, and mathematics.

If additional continuing education hours are mandated by the funding source, they must be completed within the required timeframe to maintain employment.

Preferences

• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years working with children within the last five (5) years preferred.
• Education: Six (6) semester hours in Human Growth and Development preferred. Bilingual skills are also preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist in activities of daily living for students in Pre-K/Pre-School ESE classrooms, which may include:
• Personal hygiene and restroom assistance, including diapering or catheterization.
• Mobility assistance, including lifting, positioning, or transferring students.
• Seizure control support.
• Feeding assistance, possibly including suctioning.
• Adaptive equipment support.
• Behavioral assistance, utilizing positive crisis management (PCM) skills.

Additional Details

Hourly Rate: $16.00 - $21.91

Calendar: 188B

Pay Grade: 13

New hires will be hired at the minimum of the hourly range.
