Job summary

Kennebec Valley Community Action Program (KVCAP) seeks a Teacher Assistant for the Hight Center in Skowhegan, ME. This school-day, school-year position helps provide early care and education to 3- to 5-year-olds, creating a safe space for learning and growth in partnership with families.

Requirements include at least one year of group care experience, with tiered starting wages of $17.17/hour (Tier I) and $18.38/hour (Tier II).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience in group care setting with young children.
  • Must meet agency & State Child Care Licensing regulations for background checks and physical exams.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written & verbal), documentation, critical thinking, basic computer and group management skills.

Job description

Kennebec Valley Community Action Program (KVCAP), which seeks to strengthen individuals, families and communities through direct services and community collaborations that create solutions to poverty, is looking to hire a Teacher Assistant at our location in Skowhegan.

The Hight Center provides early care and education to children ages 3 to 5. You will be part of preparing the new space to provide outstanding care and education to Skowhegan children and families. Make a difference in the lives of Skowhegan's youngest residents by creating a safe space for children to learn and grow! This is a school day, school year position.

Responsibilities
  • Working within a team to support children’s developmental progress and school readiness
  • Supporting child assessment
  • Individualizing for diverse learners
  • Supporting the implementation of PreK for ME Curriculum
Requirements
  • Minimum of one year experience in group care setting with young children.
  • Must be able to meet requirements of agency & State Child Care Licensing regulations for background checks and physical exams.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication (written & verbal) documentation, critical thinking, basic computer, and group management skills.
Tier I (Starting wage: $17.17/hour)
  • Must be eligible for Ed Tech II certification from the Department of Education.
Tier II (Starting wage: $18.38/hour)
  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education with knowledge of Head Start standards and Licensing regulations.
