Job summary

Apple Montessori Schools in Oakland, NJ is seeking a Teacher Assistant Preschool to support Lead Teachers in a nurturing Montessori setting. You will help children explore, grow, and build independence through hands-on activities and guided supervision.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid certification, and a love of children. The role requires physical activity, strong communication, and teamwork, with morning or afternoon shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR / First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• A genuine love of children.
• Physically able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe, clean, and engaging learning environment for all students.
• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to support and implement lesson plans.
• Maintain accurate student records and assist with family communication.
• Encourage positive self-image while supporting individuality, independence, and creativity.
• Model appropriate social behavior and actively engage with students.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, trainings, and mentorship programs.

Teacher Assistant Preschool

Location: Oakland, NJ

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 1:00pm or 1:00pm - 6:30pm

As a Teacher Assistant at Apple Montessori Schools, you’ll have the opportunity to turn your passion for working with children into a meaningful career in Early Childhood Education. You will work closely with Lead Teachers to support children as they explore, grow, and build independence in a nurturing Montessori environment. Our Teacher Assistants provide warmth, encouragement, and guidance as children try new experiences, form friendships, and develop confidence and curiosity.

Responsibilities
