Job summary

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit seeks PreK Counts Teacher Assistants to support the Office of Early Childhood Services in classrooms for ages 3-5. Roles involve assisting teachers, supervising students, and guiding learning activities 7 hours/day, 194 days/year.

Starting hourly rates are $19.94 (non-ECE related) and $21.08 (ECE related). Benefits include health, tuition reimbursement, loan forgiveness eligibility, PSERS, and PTO. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• CDA or Associate's Degree preferred or High School Diploma with a Credential of Competency upon hire.
• Clearances from State Police, Child Abuse Registry and PDE FBI required at hire.
• Ability to work with and relate to young children and families from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with essential classroom tasks.
• Support supervision of students during activities inside and outside the classroom.
• Aid in small group or one-on-one learning activities.

Job description

Vacancies exist for PreK Counts Teacher Assistants to work within the Office of Early Childhood Services at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. These full-time positions provide classroom support to children ages 3-5 years old.

Qualifications

• CDA or Associate's Degree preferred, High School Diploma required (must obtain Credential of Competency upon hire).
• Ability to perform the following physical activities: stoop, run, sit, stand, walk, bend, lift children, carry thirty (30) pounds, be outside in all seasons, be inside, prepare food, hear within normal ranges, and see within normal ranges.
• Ability to work with and relate to young children and families of diverse backgrounds.
• Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, the Child Abuse Registry and PDE FBI.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher by performing essential classroom tasks
• Help to supervise and accompany students during activities within and outside the classroom
• Aid the teacher by working with the students in small groups or on an individual basis in various instructional and learning activities.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)

2026-2027 Hourly Rate

• Starting at $19.94/hour for High School Diploma/CDA/Associate's Degree (non-Early Childhood Education related)
• Starting at $21.08/hour for Associate's Degree (Early Childhood Education related)
