Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a part-time classroom assistant to support early childhood care in a pediatric setting. Responsibilities include cleaning/disinfecting toys, setting up activities, preparing snacks, restocking areas, and participating in group story time under a teacher's supervision.

Hours are 2:30pm to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday (15 hours per week). Minimum qualifications include being at least 18 years old and the ability to communicate hospital policies and greet

• Ability to exchange information, greet visitors and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
• Courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Assisting classroom teachers in caring for children 12 weeks - 5 years old.
• Maintain a safe, caring group environment with other teachers.
• Clean/disinfect toys in accordance with regulations.
• Set up afternoon activities and learning centers, engage in play.
• Prepare and serve snacks, restock classroom areas as requested.
• Participate in group/story/circle time and assist with closing the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting classroom teachers in the care, health, welfare and safety of children 12 weeks - 5 years of age in a group setting.
• Working with a team of teachers, to provide a caring environment where children are safe and secure.
• Cleaning/disinfecting toys per DEEC regulations.
• Setting up afternoon activities/learning centers and engage in play.
• Preparing/serving snack.
• Restocking classroom areas as requested.
• Participating in group/story/circle time.
• Assisting classroom teacher with closing of the classroom each day.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• The ability to exchange information on factual matters, greet visitors, explain hospital policies, and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel.
• Courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, visitors and/or hospital employees. More sensitive situations may be referred to others as appropriate.

Shift/Hours

• Part time -15/hours per week.
• Shift/hours: 2:30pm - 6:00pm.
• Monday - Friday!
