Reports To: Department Head, Principal

SUMMARY

The Preschool Teaching Assistant provides a developmentally appropriate educational program for students in the preschool.

They are responsible for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas, assisting with the development of lesson plans and delivering instruction within established curriculum guidelines. They will alsocollaborate with other professional staff, and administrators to improve instruction andengage parents/guardians in conversations with regard to instructional programs and student progress.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience teaching at the preschool level


• Degree in early childhood education

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Creates and maintains an effective and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children

• Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to operate computer, printer, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, and all other standard office equipment


• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time


• Sufficient mobility to navigate within a large or small school building


• Regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
