General Responsibilities:

The Teaching Assistant position is responsible for providing assistance to teachers and students in the development of strategies to achieve academic, behavioral, and social goals. The Teaching Assistant is an active participant in Teaching and Clinical Services meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one supervision of a child.
  • Coordinating work within the school, and the Residential Treatment Program.
  • Complying with operating policies and procedures established for the assigned function.
  • Maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports.
  • Responsible for running groups and assisting students to problem solve and reinforce positive behavior.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology or related fields preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Top Skill(s):

  • Ability to facilitate social skills groups Proficient interpersonal relations and communication
  • Ability to participate in physical restraint of children
  • Knowledge of risk assessment protocol
  • Ability to lead small group academic instruction
  • Knowledge and understanding of socially and emotionally challenged children and/or children with autism.

Experience:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of related experience is normally required.
