Salary Range: $14.00 - $16.00 Hourly

Job Summary

The Teacher Assistant-Floater supports students from PreK-12th grade. The Floater is not assigned to a specific classroom on a regular basis but is assigned based on the greatest need each day.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Implement lesson plans including instructional groups per teacher’s direction.
  2. Assist in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for classroom.
  3. Assist in administering assessments and progress monitoring.
  4. Work with the teacher in documenting academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
  5. Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management strategies, along with data collection.
  6. Perform paraprofessional duties in the absence of the regular staff.
  7. Stay updated on best and promising educational practices (e.g., attending professional development, participating in book studies).
  8. Provide caretaking and housekeeping duties as needed (e.g., changing students, maintaining classroom cleanliness).
  9. Maintain positive interactions and communication with staff and parents.
  10. Attend required trainings, meetings, and events.
  11. Inform administration of all parent and student concerns and complaints.
  12. Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements, and guidelines set by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other agencies.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Training
  • G.E.D. or High School Diploma
  • DCF 45-hour training within 90 days of hire if involved in after care, summer, or camp programs.
  • CPR/First Aid certification
Minimum Experience
  • Preferably at least 1 year of experience working with children in an elementary classroom setting.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
  • Flexible and adaptable to different teaching and classroom styles.
