ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work hand-in-hand with the Teacher and related service staff; follow the Teacher’s instructions and model; integrate the interdisciplinary team’s input for instruction, behavior management, and language facilitation.
- Assist the Teacher in all activities necessary to support student attainment of IEP goals, including daily program planning and physical environment organization.
- Perform all classroom and school-wide duties pertaining to organization, maintenance, and instruction of the classroom and module.
- Participate as a classroom and interdisciplinary team member, attending relevant meetings and school functions as assigned.
- Supervise the class when the Teacher must leave the room for a short period.
- Comply with regulatory requirements and school policies; assist in maintaining documentation and submit required paperwork timely.
- Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with team members, parents, staff, and outside agencies.
- Demonstrate open communication, flexibility, self-evaluation, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Possession of NYSED TA Continuing Certification or eligibility to receive it by the end of the first semester.
- Experience in early childhood preferred.
