Job Summary

This position works in an ESE K-5th grade classroom supporting classes of approximately 9 students with more intense behavior needs with a 1:3 ratio of staff to students. The primary role of the paraprofessional is to collaborate closely with the teacher and other paraprofessionals to implement tailored strategies to support students in achieving high levels academically, socially, and emotionally.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Implement individual education plan (IEP) goals as directed by the teacher, including providing small group instruction.
  2. Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management strategies; collect required data.
  3. Assist in implementing individual behavior plans.
  4. Assist in setting up instructional materials and equipment, including enrichment materials for each unit, to maximize resource use.
  5. Implement lesson plans, including instructional groups, per the teacher’s direction.
  6. Assist in administering assessments and progress monitoring.
  7. Support the implementation and compliance of the MTSS process and support social skills implementation and documentation.
  8. Work with the teacher to document academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
  9. Assist in communication with therapists and outside service providers; incorporate suggestions into classroom activities.
  10. Perform paraprofessional duties in the absence of other staff members.
  11. Stay updated on best and promising practices in education through professional development, book studies, etc.
  12. Provide caretaking and housekeeping duties as needed (e.g., changing students, maintaining classroom cleanliness).
  13. Maintain positive interactions and communication with staff and parents.
  14. Attend required training, meetings, and events.
  15. Ensure the administration is informed of all parent and student concerns and complaints.
  16. Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements, and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other agencies.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.
