Serving individuals aged 5-21 across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, our network of K-12 schools provides personalized education tailored to each student’s unique learning style. The Teacher Assistant will be responsible for supporting the teacher who is teaching students who may demonstrate academic, behavioral, and/or social deficits. Responsibilities include teaching all academic subjects and life skills, modifying when necessary to meet individual needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Support the teacher in using appropriate methodologies such as Applied Behavior Analysis or Collaborative Problem Solving, acting in the best interest of the student.
  2. Create an authentic environment by displaying student work and projects both in and out of the classroom.
  3. Maintain a consistent and safe environment for students.
  4. Assist in planning and executing daily lessons tailored to individual and group needs.
  5. Modify materials as needed for effective teaching.
  6. Keep accurate records of student progress and relevant information.
  7. Write annual reports for each student following guidelines.
  8. Support implementation of IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  9. Administer assessments to evaluate progress and identify areas of concern.
  10. Collaborate with professionals such as therapists, psychologists, and behavior specialists.
  11. Promote health, safety, and social interaction concepts.
  12. Participate in trainings, meetings, and school activities.
  13. Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding student development.
  14. Complete daily attendance reports.
  15. Supervise bathroom activities and assist with mealtime routines.
  16. Assist in maintaining an organized and clean learning environment.
  17. Attend all staff meetings and required workshops.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Ensure student safety and implement CPI procedures when necessary.
  • Be able to lift a child and remove oneself from potentially harmful situations.
Qualifications
  • BS / BA Degree preferred.
  • Teaching Assistant Skills Test (ATAS) preferred.
  • Experience with children on the autism spectrum preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.
  • Occasional before and after school hours.
  • School/classroom setting.

$23 per hour (Brooklyn)
