Job summary

The Summit Center in Amherst, NY is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support instruction and ensure IEP mandates are met. You will help with lesson plans, data collection, and classroom activities, and may assume teacher responsibilities as needed.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–3:30 PM (37.5 hrs/week). Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of classroom experience; NYS TA certificate or teaching certificate preferred. We offer a supportive environment and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in a classroom/educational setting is preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction and fulfillment of IEP mandates.
• Implement established behavior plans.
• Assist teacher with lesson plans, data collection and charting systems.
• Support home-school communication and routine classroom functions.
• Travel to satellite locations upon request.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies.

Your Impact as a Teacher Assistant

The Teacher Assistant supports the delivery of instruction and ensures fulfillment of IEP mandates by assisting with lesson plans, data collection, and classroom activities. They help with implementing established behavior plans, home-school communication, and have the ability to assume teacher responsibilities as needed.

• Assist in instruction and fulfillment of IEP mandates

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience working in a classroom/educational setting
• One year of experience working with children

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate or New York State Teaching Certificate (if you do not currently posses the certificate, you must obtain it within six months of hire)
