Job description

We are hiring Teacher Assistants, Assistant Teachers, and Child Care Assistants for our Guidepost Montessori schools in Oregon! We have schools in Portland, Beaverton, and Tigard.

Your Role

We seek enthusiastic, adaptable Teacher Assistants (Guides) to support mixed-age classes of Infants, Toddlers, and Preschool children (ages 3-6) in a Montessori setting.

In our Montessori environment, Assistant Teachers prepare a nurturing space that promotes independence and engages children’s interests. Guides provide personalized support through individual and small-group lessons, demonstrating how to use materials and perform activities, while offering precise language to help children understand their experiences.

Children enjoy significant freedom to explore and choose activities, fostering their development of skills, confidence, and self-efficacy.

Responsibilities

• Observe children closely to understand and meet their needs
• Prepare an organized environment that encourages independence and concentration
• Provide individual and small-group lessons to support development
• Build personal connections and foster a community of collaboration and respect

Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children aged 0-6
• AA degree or 20 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development
