Description

Provides therapeutically appropriate supervision and training to students to ensure their health and safety, while promoting increased independence through age-appropriate, functional means.

Pay rate: $17.25 - $20.92 hourly, based on education and experience.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Attend to the educational, physical, social, and emotional needs of students while assisting in implementing their IEP goals.
• Follow classroom schedules to ensure goals are met and therapy carryover is achieved within the educational environment.
• Assist in organizing and arranging the classroom to create a conducive learning environment.
• Participate in activities according to staffing patterns and students' needs, following the established curriculum.
• Escort and assist students to and from buses, promoting mobility and orientation independence.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Adhere to agency policies, prioritizing student and personal safety.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• NYS Certified Teaching Assistant (consideration given if certification process is started within 3 months of hire)
• Maintain qualifications in the agency's crisis intervention procedures
• Capable of initiating and assisting in crisis interventions
• Capable of assisting in emergency evacuations via primary and secondary routes
