Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking an Assistant Teacher to aid in planning, preparing and delivering engaging lessons and activities aligned with the organization's health education objectives in the Lancaster, PA area.

The role supports a lead teacher in delivering quality care and education to children, with emphasis on maintaining a safe, nurturing environment and accurate documentation of student progress and needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED upon hire.
• Experience mentoring youth in recreational or educational settings.
• Basic Life Support - CPR within 30 days.
• First Aid within 30 days.
• Preferred enrollment in college coursework and/or AA degree completion; Fire Safety within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher in delivering quality program, support, and services for children and families.
• Aid in planning, preparing and delivering lesson plans and activities.
• Support in maintaining a safe, inviting environment for all children and families.
• Maintain proactive approaches to discipline and behavior per policies.
• Assist in maintaining records on students' progress and needs.
• Update records on students and activities as required by laws and regulations.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Assistant Teacher is responsible for aiding in planning, preparing and delivering lesson plans, special activities and provocations that facilitate active learning consistent with the philosophies and objectives of CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health.

• Assist lead teacher in the delivery of quality program, support and services for children and families accessing the childcare and early childhood education programs of CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health.
• Aid in planning, preparing and delivering lesson plans, special activities and provocations that facilitate active learning consistent with the philosophies and objectives of CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health.
• Support in preparing and maintaining a safe, healthy, inviting, nurturing and engaging environment for all children, families, and colleagues.
• Maintain positive and proactive approaches to discipline and student behavior in accordance with the behavior policy, plans and mindful philosophies endorsed by CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health.
• Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining and regularly communicating accurate and complete records to students, colleagues and parents regarding students' progress, development, and needs as appropriate.
• Assist in updating all necessary records accurately and completely on students and activities as required by laws, policies and school regulations.
