Job summary

Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) is hiring a Teacher Assistant (Union) for Head Start, in Ohio. This seasonal full-time role runs Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, totaling 34 hours per week from August to June.

You will support preschool learning, implement lesson plans, and ensure compliance with Head Start standards. Education required is a high school diploma or GED; CDA options are available within two years; prior early childcare experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CDA credential or equivalent is an option to meet Head Start requirements.
• Enrolled in CDA program within two years of hire is acceptable.
• Enrollment in a program leading to an associate or bachelor's degree is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementing developmentally appropriate activities and strategies which support the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of preschool children.
• Assist with providing an age-appropriate learning environment that allows for individual differences.
• Assist with promoting and encouraging a positive learning environment and nurturing teacher child interactions.
• Substitute for teaching staff; assist with classroom activities.
• Organize, sanitize and store classroom equipment and supplies.
• Assist in conducting 2 educational home visits per child per year.
• Maintain accurate records and submit records as requested.
• Other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.

Education

High school diploma or GED

CDA credential (or equivalent state-awarded certificate)

Enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years of hire

Position Overview

Provide a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool children. Support daily classroom activities, assist with implementing lesson plans, and ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable regulations.

Education

High school diploma or GED.

Per Head Start requirements, Teacher Assistants must also meet one of the following:

• Hold a CDA credential (or equivalent state-awarded certificate)
• Be enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years of hire
• Be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree

Experience

Early childhood development or related childcare experience preferred.
