Job Title: Teacher, High School Art

Reports to: Building Principal

2026/27 SECOND SEMENSTER START DATE

Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to join our team and create a stimulating learning environment for students in our art education program. This role is responsible for developing and delivering engaging lesson plans, fostering a love of learning, and promoting the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university required.
• Applicant must be Highly Qualified with the applicable Michigan Teaching Certificate endorsement in Art Education (LX) (or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe).
• Prior teaching experience (preferred).
• Strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional design.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
• Commitment to student success and professional growth.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with the district provided curriculum. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Provide appropriate feedback on work.
• Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
• Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned
• Maintain a consistent and reliable on-site work schedule

Qualification Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: Compare, analyze, and synthesize information relevant to job tasks. Communicate both orally and in writing effectively. Coordinate, instruct, compute, evaluate, and negotiate as needed. Use interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues, students, and stakeholders.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed for job tasks. Talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment), taste, and smell as necessary for communication and safety. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.Have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust/focus.
