Job summary

Rocori Public School District seeks a High School Art Teacher for a long-term substitute role from December 21, 2026 to April 23, 2027. The teacher will deliver High School level art instruction, align with district and state standards, and adapt lessons to student needs.

Responsibilities include developing engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and maintaining records. Requires a Bachelor's in Education and teaching certification, plus minimum one year of public school experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related required.
  • Teaching certification in related field required.
  • Minimum 1 year successful educational and instructional experience in a public school setting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with core subject matter concepts and apply concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil daily.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Translates lesson plans into developmentally-appropriate learning experiences daily.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals daily.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities daily.
  • Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily.
  • Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports as appropriate and required.
  • Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and assists in developing strategies for individual education plans daily as needed.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner daily as needed.
  • Communicates regularly with parents outside of the normal classroom day by various means such as newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc. daily as needed.
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of teacher associates, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips as needed.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Participates on school committees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary: Instructs students in High School education subjects appropriate to grade level and district/state curriculum requirements.

This position is for December 21, 2026 - April 23, 2027.

Physical Job Requirements:

Salary: The daily rate of pay for this position is $275.63 per day on student contact days.
