What is a Registered Teacher Apprentice?
A Registered Teacher Apprentice is a school system employee who continues working while completing no-cost college coursework and learning with a trained mentor, known as a “journey worker." Approved on-the-job training replaces some traditional coursework, so apprentices receive credit for skills developed through their daily work. ESMEC is partnering with Salisbury University, Chesapeake College, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) to support the pathway to a degree and teacher licensure.
