Job summary

Cypress-Fairbanks ISD seeks an elementary music teacher to create a structured, engaging music program for students across grade levels. The role requires delivering instruction, managing a classroom, and coordinating with campus leaders to showcase music programs and extracurricular ensembles.

The position is probationary/term with 187 days, and the teacher classification Pay Grade T60 will be used as approved by the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university.
  • Valid teaching certificate appropriate for elementary music.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively instruct students in appropriate elementary music skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective elementary music teaching and learning with consideration to behavior management and age-appropriate learning activities.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individual and group instruction in music.
  • Teach elementary music pedagogy that provides students with an appropriate learning sequence and accounts for various learning styles and abilities.
  • Work with campus administrators to organize grade level/school music programs or additional extracurricular ensembles.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Working Conditions

  • Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
  • Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.
  • Posture: Prolonged standing stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
  • Motion: Frequent walking.
  • Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); may lift and move musical instruments.
  • Frequent exposure to noise/sound.
