Job summary

South Bronx Charter School for International Cultures & the Arts (SBCSICA) is seeking an innovative, student-centered Middle School Robotics Teacher who believes every student deserves access to high-quality STEM education.

The ideal candidate will inspire students through hands‑on learning in robotics, engineering, coding, automation, and real‑world problem‑solving while preparing them for high school STEM pathways, robotics competitions, and future careers in technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • New York State teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain certification).
  • Experience teaching STEM, robotics, engineering, technology, computer science, or related subjects.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Passion for equitable STEM education.
  • Lead the Robotics After‑School Program and attend weekend competitions. Preferred.
  • Experience with VEX IQ, Minecraft, Arduino, or similar robotics platforms.
  • Experience coaching robotics teams or preparing students for STEM competitions.
  • Experience with project‑based learning.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging, project‑based robotics and STEM lessons aligned with New York State Learning Standards.
  • Teach robotics, engineering design, coding, automation, and computational thinking through hands‑on learning experiences.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and use data to drive progress.
  • Prepare students for robotics competitions, STEM showcases, and collaborative design challenges.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate STEM across content areas.
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans, grades, assessments, and required documentation.

Position Overview

South Bronx Charter School for International Cultures & the Arts (SBCSICA) is seeking an innovative, student-centered Middle School Robotics Teacher who believes every student deserves access to high-quality STEM education.. The ideal candidate will inspire students through hands‑on learning in robotics, engineering, coding, automation, and real‑world problem‑solving while preparing them for high school STEM pathways, robotics competitions, and future careers in technology.. . In alignment with Portrait of a Graduate, the Robotics Teacher will develop students who are critical thinkers, creative innovators, effective communicators, collaborative leaders, adaptable problem‑solvers, and responsible digital citizens. Through authentic, project‑based learning, students will build the technical knowledge and durable skills needed to thrive in high school, college, careers, and an ever‑evolving global workforce.. . The teacher will prepare students for SBCSICA's High School CTE Pathways by providing the foundational knowledge and technical skills needed for advanced coursework in Aviation, Robotics, Engineering, Coding, and other STEM-related fields, while fostering confidence, curiosity, and a passion for innovation.. . Instruction & Curriculum
  • Design and deliver engaging, project‑based robotics and STEM lessons aligned with New York State Learning Standards..
  • Teach robotics, engineering design, coding, automation, and computational thinking through hands‑on learning experiences..
  • Integrate the engineering design process, problem‑solving, and teamwork into daily instruction..
  • Prepare students for robotics competitions, STEM showcases, and collaborative design challenges..
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs..
  • Use student data to drive instruction and improve academic outcomes..
STEM & Career Readiness
  • Prepare students for success in SBCSICA's High School CTE Pathways, including Aviation, Robotics, and other STEM programs..
  • Connect classroom learning to real‑world STEM careers through authentic projects, guest speakers, field experiences, and industry partnerships..
  • Foster innovation, creativity, and career exploration through hands‑on engineering experiences..
Student Engagement
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment..
  • Promote collaboration, leadership, communication, perseverance, and innovation..
  • Inspire students to pursue STEM opportunities beyond the classroom..
  • Encourage participation in robotics competitions, STEM events, and school showcases..
Program Development
  • Support the continued growth of SBCSICA's Robotics Program..
  • Maintain robotics equipment, inventory, tools, and classroom technology..
  • Assist with robotics competitions, grants, community partnerships, and STEM initiatives..
  • Promote the Robotics Program through family engagement and school events..
Professional Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate STEM across content areas..
  • Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic progress..
  • Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events..
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans, grades, assessments, and required documentation..
  • Demonstrate professionalism and contribute positively to the school community..
