Job summary

Shiloh House in Colorado is seeking a dedicated teacher to empower youth and families through trauma‑informed, evidence‑based programs. This role offers meaningful work, a supportive team culture, and opportunities for growth within the agency.

Qualified candidates will hold a Colorado teaching license (or eligibility), a bachelor’s degree, and demonstrated skills in behavior management, collaboration with families, and IEP knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Colorado teaching license or substitute license (or eligibility).
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience and strong skills in behavior management.
  • Trauma-informed practices and strong classroom management.
  • Ability to organize and direct other teachers and paraprofessionals.
  • Strong communication for collaboration with families and professionals.
  • Knowledge of IEPs and special education laws.
  • Experience with autism spectrum preferred; Special Education endorsement may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct teaching to students 225 days per year.
  • Plan and implement approved curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain approved individual written lesson plans.
  • Supervise students in the lunch room/cafeteria during rotations.
  • Supervise support staff in the classroom and enlist special skills as needed.
  • Fulfill requirements for ongoing education (TTE/SEE).
  • Work with youth who have emotional and behavioral issues from trauma and neglect.

Compensation

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $50,000 - $68,000 per year. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job‑related factors permitted by law.

  • Supervise support staff in the classroom and enlist special skills as needed
  • Fulfill requirements for ongoing education (TTE/SEE)
  • Work with youth who have emotional and behavioral issues resulting from trauma and neglect, including those who display verbal and physical aggression
Qualifications And Skills Required
  • Colorado teaching license or substitute teaching license (or eligibility for one)
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience and strong skills in behavior management
  • Strong classroom management skills and trauma‑informed practices
  • Ability to organize and direct other teachers and paraprofessionals
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with team members, parents, and other professionals
  • Highly organized with knowledge and experience with IEPs and special education laws
  • Experience working with students on the autism spectrum is preferred but not required
  • Special Education Generalist endorsement preferred; a Special Education endorsement is required for a Special Education teaching position
Requirements
  • At least 23 years of age
  • Ability to utilize stress‑coping techniques during crises
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Basic math, reading, and writing proficiency
  • Ability to climb a flight of stairs
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and 20 pounds overhead
  • Ability to tolerate outside temperatures
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain one with a clean motor vehicle record
  • Must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening, including state criminal background checks, fingerprinting, sex offender registry searches, and abuse and neglect clearances. Applicants with recent out‑of‑state residence will undergo equivalent checks from those states. Direct care applicants must also complete a health evaluation before beginning service.
