Job summary

Bayhealth is seeking a dedicated early childhood professional to provide care for children ages 8 weeks to 5 years. You will plan age-appropriate activities and monitor developmental readiness to support school readiness.

This full-time role at Bayhealth Kent Campus involves supervising classroom staff, maintaining records, and engaging with parents. Shift is Day/Evening 8am-5pm with a hourly rate range of $18.73–$28.09, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Selected candidate should have an Associate Degree with focus in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Required: DEED Certification within 60 days and Heartsaver within 60 days.
  • Experience working with preschool children in a group setting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure child safety and health in the classroom.
  • Plan and conduct age-appropriate activities meeting developmental needs.
  • Maintain records of growth and development and conduct parent conferences.
  • Supervise Assistant Teachers and other adults in the classroom.
  • Contribute to newsletters and communications as needed.
  • Implement curriculum aligned with developmental goals in social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Location: Kent Campus Hospital

Status: Full Time 80 Hours

Shift: Day/ Evening 8am-5pm

SALARY RANGE: 18.73 - 28.09 HOURLY

General Summary

Performs a wide variety of age appropriate daily activities related to the care and development of young children ages 8 weeks to 5 years of age. Plans and conducts age-appropriate activities which meet the social, intellectual, physical and emotional needs of the children, in order to monitor/track children’s developmental readiness for school success.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for each child’s safety and health. Maintains classroom control within licensing and N.A.E.Y.C. guidelines
  • Lesson Plans: Plans and conducts a wide variety of daily activities that are age appropriate for the children in the classroom.
  • Maintains records and check lists on each child’s growth and development using the Creative Curriculum Assessment tool. Conducts at least two parent conferences per school year on each child
  • Directs and supervises Assistant Teachers and any other adults in the classroom. Provides input to supervisor on Performance Evaluations for caregiver.
  • Assists with communication to Assistant Teachers, parents as necessary. Contributes to the Child Care Center newsletter on a monthly basis. Completes requested assignments in a timely manner.
  • Implement the curriculum that is consistent with the goals for children and promote learning and development in each of the following areas: social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive.
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience
  • Education: Associate Degree; Early Childhood Education; Or Associate Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Child Psychology, or Elementary Special Education. In lieu of related degree, may have an Associate’s Degree in another field of study and transcript must include twelve (12) credits in Early Childhood Education, elementary education, child development, and or early childhood special education. Must also have a minimum of 6 months’ work experience.
  • Credential(s): DEED Certification within 60 days, if not already obtained. Heartsaver - Within 60 days, if not already obtained.
  • Experience: Required: One year experience working with children preschool age or younger in a group setting.
Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor Degree Early Childhood Education or Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Child Psychology, or Elementary Special Education.
  • Credential(s): Delaware Educator Data System Certification
  • Experience: Preferred: Two to four years working with preschool children in Center or school setting
