Job description

Launched in 2014, ImpactTulsa serves as a collective impact backbone organization as a 501(c)3 and a member of the StriveTogether national network. A backbone organization exists to align partners and resources for the goal of improving educational outcomes for students. In the Tulsa area, these partnerships include leaders from education, business, philanthropy, nonprofit, civic, and faith communities with a vision that all students are guaranteed a high-quality education.

ImpactTulsa’s 21 school district partners represent over 118,000 students in the Tulsa region. Backbone work convenes with education, business, and nonprofit partners, where ImpactTulsa compiles data and measures academic success to identify and share best practices from the region and across the United States that help students reach their full potential.

ImpactTulsa is a collective impact organization that turns data into systemic change by convening community sectors, through the shared vision, that all children in Tulsa receive every opportunity to succeed, from cradle to career.

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Managing Director, of the My Brother’s Keeper department, the TCVI Coordinator will oversee the coordination and facilitation of the Tulsa Community Violence Intervention Initiative; lead community outreach and engagement efforts; assist in building and maintaining long-term strategic partnerships; organize and facilitate planning sessions, workgroup meetings, and community forums; and represent TCVI at community events and activities.

This position is grant-funded and contingent upon successful continuation and renewal of the grant and grant requirements.

Key responsibilities

Partner, Stakeholder & Community Engagement

Support recruitment and engagement of partners and stakeholders in TCVI activities alongside outreach workers.

Assist with facilitation, coordination and note-taking for weekly, monthly, and quarterly meetings.

Maintain regular communication with partner organizations to ensure alignment and follow-through.

Communications & Public Awareness

Manage TCVI communication channels, including submitting website updates, social media, newsletters, and flyers.

Support implementation of outreach campaigns to engage community members, volunteers, and advocates.

Draft and edit basic communication materials such as announcements, press release templates, or talking points.

Strategy Development & Capacity Building

Provide logistical and administrative support for documentation of Tulsa’s violence prevention strategy.

Assist with collecting and sharing best practices from OJJDP and other communities.

Support partner capacity-building efforts by coordinating training sessions, workshops, and shared resources.

Data, Evaluation & Reporting

Assist partners in adopting shared intake and data tracking tools by providing administrative and communication support.

Help gather progress updates and compile partner reports for evaluation purposes.

Maintain organized records and databases to track outcomes.

Funding & Compliance

Lead grant reporting by compiling partner updates, attendance records, and communications metrics.

Assist with background research and coordination for funding proposals as directed.

Violence Prevention Implementation & Response

Provide logistical support for meetings and initiatives related to violence prevention and intervention.

Assist with communications and coordination when emerging issues or “hot spots” are identified.

Perform additional responsibilities as assigned that align with a 20-hour work week.

Requirements

Demonstration of strong project and time management

Evidence of the development of reporting documents

Exceptional organizational skills, specifically in use of technical tools and working in a hybrid environment

Proficient use of technology, specifically: Google Docs, Asana, and Slack. A general proficiency in use of technology is required.

Proven ability to build coalitions and consensus among diverse stakeholders.

Strong facilitation, verbal and written communication, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities with time-bound expectations.

Commitment to high ethical and confidentiality standards in the workplace.

Education Recommendations

We seek candidates with meaningful lived or professional experience (e.g., outreach workers, organizers, or program assistants) to qualify without requiring a four-year degree which could unintentionally exclude proximate leaders from the communities CVI serves.

Associate’s degree in social sciences, public administration, communications, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

At least two years of experience in community engagement, program coordination, or violence prevention preferred.

Physical Requirements

Requirements include the ability to sit for long periods of time, stand or walk within an office space, building, or complex, lifting of up to 25 pounds, occasionally. Staff spend time typing, looking at screens, engaging in mental tasks, and holding conversation meaningful with others.
