Job summary

Executive Director - ImpactTulsa
Overview

ImpactTulsa is a collective impact organization that turns data into systemic change by convening community sectors through the shared vision that all children in Tulsa receive every opportunity to succeed, from cradle to career. It was founded in 2014 by leaders from across sectors, including business, education, faith, nonprofit, civic, and philanthropy. They came together with a strong purpose - to improve the lives of Tulsa’s youth through accessible, high-quality education.

ImpactTulsa is looking for a dynamic and skilled Executive Director. Core duties include strategic leadership over planning, results, organization culture, equity, talent, operations, board relations, communication, financial management, fundraising, stakeholder relationships, and programs.

This position requires a unique and diverse set of skills, attributes and experience. The Executive Director must demonstrate a knowledge of collective action and equity strategies, and the dynamics of the cradle to career environment in the Tulsa area. The individual must be a leader for social justice, and an outstanding communicator, who can effectively maintain and develop partnerships, and convey the mission and activities of ImpactTulsa.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Internal Management and Relationship Building
    • Recruit, retain and develop excellent staff.
    • Guide organizational culture and design.
    • Foster a climate of continuous improvement.
    • Lead with empathy and vulnerability.
    • Guide a supportive, fun, challenging, rewarding and warm team culture that allows staff to bring their authentic selves to work.
  • Organizational Mission and Strategy
    • Engage partners and stakeholders in meaningful participation to further ImpactTulsa’s goals.
    • Provide strategic leadership of organizational mission, vision, strategy and implementation.
    • Provide anti-racist leadership.
  • Performance Outcomes
    • Develop strong and effective relationships and reporting mechanisms with Board to achieve organizational goals.
    • Ensure strong results from partners, engagements and programs.
  • Fundraising, Fiscal and Legal Accountability
    • Ensure legal and financial compliance and a strong, transparent fiscal position.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with foundation partners, and attract new funding.
    • Oversee federal fund acquisition and grant compliance.
  • External Relations
    • Provide visible, respected leadership in the community.
    • Oversee relationships with partners and stakeholders.
    • Provide strategic leadership to recruit and on-board new partners, working with staff, board and stakeholders.
    • Represent the organization in the media, increase public awareness, and broaden the organization’s reputation to strategic constituents.
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 8+years of relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years in senior management, including leading teams in a fast-paced nonprofit, education, social enterprise, or business environment.
  • High-level understanding of collective action, education systems, and nonprofit management.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Anti-racist and collaborative leader with track record of leading organizational change for social justice.
  • Executive presence to inspire confidence and passion among diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Experienced in fundraising and financial management.
  • Excellent communicator and writer, including ability to convey analytical results to broad audiences.
  • Experience and cultural proficiency working with politically under-represented communities including but not limited to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities, immigrant and refugee communities, LGBTQ+ communities and youth.
  • Savvy relationship-builder and culture leader.
  • Track record of leading, inspiring and developing high-performance teams.
  • Strategic systems thinker and creative problem solver.
  • Collaborative leadership style, with an engaging and confident interpersonal style.
