Qualifications

• Pathway A requires 30 college credits with a GPA of 2.0+ and at least two years of full-time law-enforcement service with arrest powers, successful completion of a Field Training Program, and assignment to patrol duties.
• Pathway B requires a high-school diploma or GED, at least three years of full-time law-enforcement service with arrest powers, successful completion of a Field Training Program, and assignment to patrol duties.
• Current and valid Texas driver’s license.
• Valid TCOLE license.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Citizen of the United States.
• No felony convictions or Class B misdemeanor convictions within the past ten years.
• No pending criminal charges or ongoing probation beyond Class B misdemeanor.
• Good moral character and ability to work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the City on foot, by car, or on bike; deter crime and arrest offenders.
• Enforce traffic laws: patrol roadways, respond to calls, issue citations or warnings, and file reports.
• Report motor-vehicle accidents: respond, interview parties, record evidence, and file reports.
• Investigate crimes: interview witnesses, gather evidence, submit reports, and coordinate charges.
• Maintain positive community relations: answer inquiries and engage the public in police matters.
