Job summary

Insite Legal in Hackensack is seeking a Tax Associate for a broad transactional role with real client contact and partner mentoring. You’ll take ownership of the tax workstream on deals and contribute to a firm with a strong culture and retention.

The role involves advising on partnerships, real estate tax issues, and fund structures while collaborating with corporate, real estate and investment funds teams. NYC-based applicants are welcome.

Qualifications

• JD from a US law school and active NJ or NY Bar admission (an LLM in Taxation is a plus).
• 3+ years of transactional tax experience at a law firm or a top accounting firm.
• Strong technical and drafting skills.
• Partnership or real estate tax experience is particularly welcome.

Responsibilities

• Structuring M&A, private equity and joint venture deals, including partnership and LLC agreements.
• Advising on Subchapter K, partnership allocations and fund structures.
• Working on real estate tax issues, including 1031 exchanges, REITs and opportunity zones.
• Drafting tax provisions in purchase, operating and fund documents.
• Advising on federal, state and local tax planning and controversies.
• Working directly with clients and supervising junior associates.
