Job summary

Springline Advisory is seeking a Tax Supervisor to lead day-to-day tax operations and guide Senior Tax Associates and Staff. You will help ensure accurate, timely client deliverables while fostering a culture of coaching, mentorship, and professional growth.

You’ll review tax returns, perform research, and identify planning opportunities, collaborating with managers and partners to deliver value and high-quality work across multiple engagements in a fast-paced public accounting environment.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of tax accounting experience within public accounting preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification preferred.
  • Strong technical ability to prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and other business entities.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting tax research, analyzing technical issues, and documenting conclusions.
  • Experience reviewing staff workpapers and providing meaningful coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. tax regulations, compliance requirements, and tax planning concepts.
  • Proficiency with tax research tools, tax preparation software, cloud-based accounting applications, and Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Review and oversee the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns prepared by Staff and Senior Associates, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable tax regulations.
  • Perform tax research and analysis on federal and state tax matters and assist with developing practical solutions for clients and engagement teams.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and support Managers and Partners in delivering value-added recommendations to clients.
  • Review financial statements and supporting workpapers for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with applicable accounting standards.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor Interns, Staff, and Senior Associates by providing technical guidance, constructive feedback, training, and ongoing professional development support.
  • Help manage workflow, engagement budgets, and deadlines across multiple client engagements while maintaining high-quality client service.
  • Serve as a day-to-day resource for team members, assisting with technical questions, issue resolution, and escalation of complex matters when appropriate.
  • Stay current on evolving tax legislation, regulatory guidance, and industry trends, applying new developments to client engagements.
  • Utilize tax research platforms, cloud-based tools, and accounting software to support efficient and accurate engagement execution.
  • Collaborate with Managers, Partners, and internal teams to prioritize competing deadlines, address client needs, and ensure timely delivery of work products.
  • Apply strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills to resolve tax issues and improve engagement efficiency.
  • Promote best practices in documentation, quality control, and compliance while contributing to process improvement initiatives within the tax practice.

As a Tax Supervisor you’ll provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and oversight to Senior Tax Associates, Tax Associates, and other team members, ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timely completion of all client deliverables. Beyond managing workflow and reviewing technical work, this role plays a critical part in developing the next generation of talent through ongoing coaching, mentorship, and knowledge sharing. The Tax Supervisor helps team members strengthen their technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, client service skills, and professional confidence by providing constructive feedback, identifying development opportunities, and fostering a collaborative learning environment. This individual serves as a trusted resource and role model, helping team members navigate complex engagements, achieve career growth objectives, and contribute to the overall success of the practice.

What You’ll Do
