Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a Tax Summer Intern to support U.S. tax planning, analysis and compliance activities across federal, state and local levels. The role partners with manufacturing operations to provide daily tax guidance and incentives.

You will assist with audits, document preparation and research, while gaining hands-on experience in sales and income tax processes and software tools used across PCA facilities nationwide.

Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled college student majoring in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other applicable major and have completed their sophomore year.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 is required and you must be eligible to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist with sales and income tax audits.
• Review and approve the proper handling of customers’ sales tax exemption certificates in CertCapture.
• Research and respond to inquiries and notices from state and local income, sales and use, and federal taxing authorities.
• Work with our department and outside firms to ensure accurate and timely filing of sales and use and property tax returns.
• Oversee the maintenance of tax licenses and permits for our locations across the United States.
• Prepare annual state and local income tax apportionment work papers.
• Perform data analytics in Excel, Corptax and other software for tax returns and compliance projects.
• Assist with property and income tax incentives and filings.
• Prepare and summarize research on tax issues as needed.
