Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking an Accountant to apply accounting principles to analyze financial information, prepare reports, and manage tax statements for businesses and clients.

You will mentor peers, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements. The role includes preparing tax and financial statements, performing audits, and collaborating with clients to optimize tax outcomes while staying current with tax laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with related work experience.
• At least 2 years accounting experience; 1 year business tax/entity returns experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficient with online accounting software and spreadsheets.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tax statements, financial statements, and BAS statements at required intervals.
• Create and return statements and documents to clients by set deadlines.
• Prepare business income tax returns and statements for audits.
• Manage tax administration: tax code research, return prep, and tax planning.
• Identify opportunities to minimize tax liability through deductions and credits.
• Engage regularly with clients and maintain strong relationships.
• Stay current with federal/state tax laws and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with month-, quarter-, and year-end analyses; validate data accuracy.
• Provide guidance to Associate Tax Strategists as needed.
