Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a Tax Accountant to apply accounting principles, analyze financial information, and prepare tax returns for individuals, businesses, and partnerships. You will provide tax planning advice and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

You will mentor peers, stay current on tax laws, and support month-end through year-end analyses while building strong client relationships. This role offers growth within a large tax services organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience.
• Minimum of 1 year business tax/entity returns experience.
• Experience with GAAP.
• Mid-level knowledge of integrated online accounting applications.
• Mid-level oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Mid-level demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, and database management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tax statements, financial statements, and BAS statements at required intervals.
• Create and return statements and documents to clients by set deadlines.
• Prepare business income tax returns and statements for audits.
• Manage tax administration responsibilities including tax code research and tax planning.
• Identify opportunities to minimize tax liability through deductions and credits.
• Engage with clients and maintain relationships.
• Stay current with federal and state tax laws and compliance requirements.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end analysis of accounts.
• Process subsystems and validate data accuracy and completeness.
• Provide guidance to Associate Tax Strategists as needed.
