Job summary

Toyota Financial Services seeks a Tax Software Engineering Lead to strategically manage a portfolio of tax applications and drive automation across the tax technology landscape. You will lead a hands-on, cross-functional team delivering scalable, compliant solutions.

Reporting to the Finance Solutions National Manager, you will guide initiatives across Vertex, Tax Credit Management Systems, and related platforms, ensuring reliability and security in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in application management, preferably in tax or financial services.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Angular, SQL, and MuleSoft/API gateway platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead management of internally developed and commercial tax applications ensuring business needs and security standards.
• Drive automation and AI/ML capabilities to reduce manual work.
• Support operations across full application lifecycle including runbooks and disaster recovery.
• Partner with AMS teams on post-production support and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Solve complex issues across integrations, data feeds, and batch processes.
• Own and support Tax Credit Management Systems, Vertex, VantagePoint, and related tax platforms.

Who We're Looking For

Toyota Financial Services (TFS) is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Tax Software Engineering Lead. The primary responsibility of this role is to serve as a strategic and hands-on leader, managing a portfolio of critical tax-related applications that support business operations and compliance. You will help shape the future of our tax technology landscape, ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and innovative. Reporting to the D&T's Finance Solutions National Manager, this role supports the department’s objective to deliver high-quality data solutions and services that empower the TFS enterprise and its global affiliates.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the management of both internally developed and commercial tax applications, ensuring they meet business needs, compliance standards, and security requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts that reduce manual work, expand automation, and introduce AI/ML capabilities, including LLMs, into workflows.
• Support operational excellence across the full application lifecycle, including runbooks, disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and performance monitoring.
• Partner with AMS teams on post-production support and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver tax technology initiatives successfully.
• Solve complex issues across application enhancements, batch processes, data feeds, and system integrations.
• Own and support key systems such as Tax Credit Management Systems, Vertex, VantagePoint, Collection Tax management Systems, Premium Pro and related tax platforms, helping ensure they remain robust and compliant.

What You Bring

• A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field that provides a strong technical or analytical foundation.
• 10+ years of experience in application management, ideally in tax or financial services environments.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Angular, SQL, and MuleSoft/API Gateway platforms.
• Experience leading application development and support teams, with strong communication skills for both technical and business audiences.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, mainframe systems, integration technologies, and information security and data privacy frameworks.
• The ability to adapt existing frameworks to meet business needs while maintaining momentum and resolving technical challenges.

Added bonus if you have

• A master's degree in Information Technology or a related field that deepens your technical expertise.
• Experience in Financial Services, Banking, or FinTech environments.
• Exposure to AI/ML platforms for data enrichment, Salesforce tax calculation integrations, or web authentication products such as SailPoint, Centrify, CyberArk, or Okta.
• Experience working with vendors such as PwC, Ernst & Young, and Vertex, along with knowledge of SOX and non-SOX controls.
• Direct experience with tax credit management, sales tax, and income tax processes.
