Our EY EDGE practice in Financial Services provides specialized tax services to US and global clients. EDGE stands for Exceptional Delivery and Growth Engine, reflecting our technical expertise and commitment to service excellence.

The Opportunity

EY's FSO EDGE Private practice offers tailored tax assistance for high-net-worth individuals and private companies, including family-owned and private equity-backed enterprises. These clients are often high-growth, private companies, from startups to multi-billion-dollar global firms. You will engage in technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects, working with a global team and serving as a key contact for clients and colleagues. This role offers opportunities for cross-border and cross-functional collaboration, with support tailored to your skills and experience. EY provides a nurturing environment to enhance your technical tax knowledge, leadership, and business skills. You will work with experienced professionals in high-net-worth taxation.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients, exercise professional discretion, escalate complex issues appropriately, coordinate efforts, and manage expectations regarding timing and resolution.
  • Deliver and oversee compliance and consulting services, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Apply specialized expertise in high-net-worth clients.
  • Communicate with client tax liaisons, trust administration teams, and officers to gather and share information, support decision-making, and obtain necessary instructions.
  • Support long-term client relationships and manage workflow effectively.
  • Manage engagement deliverables and team resources to ensure timely, accurate tax compliance, and manage engagement economics.
  • Advise on complex tax issues, set expectations, coordinate daily tasks, and delegate to staff and senior team members.
  • Review staff work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Provide leadership, feedback, and coaching to team members.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Ability to identify and address problem areas in tax projects.
  • Experience presenting complex topics to clients.
  • Skill in breaking down complex projects and developing client-centric solutions.
  • Capability to manage multiple assignments, teams, and deadlines simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with significant tax or financial planning experience.
  • CPA license, licensed Attorney, or Enrolled Agent.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in services or tax organizations.
  • Thorough knowledge of estate and wealth planning.
  • Experience with federal and state personal and trust income tax.
  • Excellent collaboration, negotiation skills, and confidence to challenge senior colleagues.
  • Understanding of automated tax processing systems and relevant laws.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven track record in high-net-worth tax planning.
  • Experience in a professional services environment.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Adaptability in work style to internal and client teams.
