Your key responsibilities

You will be preparing and reviewing complex individual tax returns to income tax planning and advising high net worth individuals and families, allowing you to develop into a trusted advisor role to clients. You will work with specialists in our other areas including International tax, state and local tax and asset management to deliver comprehensive solutions to our clients.

Skills and attributes for success

1. Performing high quality preparation and review of complex tax returns
2. Knowledge/experience in handling hedge fund and Private equity K-1s
3. Researching tax issues with a team to develop effective tax planning strategies and translate complex data from a range of sources into client-ready insights and deliverables
4. Building effective long-term relationships with our clients, understanding their unique needs to provide a tailored service
5. Maintaining your reputation in your field by constantly updating and sharing your technical and finest practice knowledge
6. Identifying and reacting to risks and opportunities to improve our services and processes

To qualify for the role you must have

1. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, supported by significant tax or financial planning experience
2. Progression towards CPA license, Enrolled Agent or a licensed Attorney is required
3. Minimum of 3 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization
4. A thorough understanding of estate and wealth planning
5. Experience with federal and state personal and trust income tax
6. Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds
7. A thorough understanding of automated tax processing systems and laws within your area of technical professionalism

1. A proven record in high net-worth tax planning
2. A proven record in a professional services environment
3. Experience in working on multiple teams prioritizing your workload
4. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
5. The ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $70,300 to $115,900. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $84,300 to $131,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
