Job summary

TruNorth Advisors, a premier financial advisory firm headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, seeks a Director of Tax Services to lead the tax practice. You will collaborate with financial advisors to deliver integrated tax and wealth strategies while mentoring staff and upholding client-first standards.

The role requires an active CPA license (SC/NC or reciprocal) or ENrolled Agent, 5+ years in tax with 2+ in supervision, and a passion for service excellence.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license (SC/NC or reciprocal) or IRS Enrolled Agent required.
• Minimum 5 years of tax prep and planning experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
• Strong expertise in individual tax planning (RMDs, Roth conversions, SS taxation).
• Solid knowledge of business entity taxation (S-Corps, partnerships, LLCs).
• Proficiency with Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte or similar tax software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Tax Services Division with a client-first culture.
• Oversee and review complex tax returns (1040, 1120/1120S/1065, trusts, estates).
• Develop proactive tax planning strategies for pre-retirees and retirees.
• Advise clients on tax implications of investments, income, distributions, and estate planning.
• Represent clients before IRS and state tax authorities in audits/appeals.
• Mentor tax staff and onboard new clients.
