Our Financial Services EY EDGE practice is made up of a team of professionals providing dedicated tax technical services to both US and global clients. EDGE stands for Exceptional Delivery and Growth Engine because this team operates in a technical environment with deep process and service delivery experience that distinguishes EY in the marketplace.

The opportunity

EY's FSO EDGE Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) practice provides comprehensive and specialized tax assistance tailored to the unique needs of the asset management industry. You will work alongside our practice office professionals who are knowledgeable and experienced with varied and specialized facets of hedge fund, private equity fund and mutual fund taxation, including fund and organizational structuring, tax minimization planning, on-call advice, and tax compliance.

Your key responsibilities

A Senior Services Manager in FSO EDGE WAM will serve as a functional leader managing tax compliance and consulting work for clients. The objective is to lead tax processes by directing and coordinating day-to-day interactions with the team, reviewing engagement work product, driving delivery of services to meet deadlines for client deliverables, developing internal team members, and managing the functional efforts of such tax processes. You will work alongside practice office professionals serving clients, based on their time demands, as one team.

Responsibilities include
  1. Maintain client relationships and create a positive and trusting environment
  2. Direct and lead all work activities relating to the preparation and delivery of multiple tax compliance engagements simultaneously
  3. Lead tax delivery processes and build alliances through teaming, and/or act as a deep subject matter expert
  4. Manage and monitor team's work, progress reporting, workload, quality and utilization/overtime distribution across the team
  5. Troubleshoot and identify complex process problems, process data submissions, analyze and resolve complex issues
  6. Take responsibility for quality of tax work product, and manage opportunity and engagement risk for the same
  7. Leverage the usage of standard technologies and processes while driving efficiency and quality of deliverables
  8. Prepare and present periodic reports for leadership to include project milestones, budget considerations, staffing needs, and executive summaries
  9. Provide effective leadership, formal and informal feedback, and coaching to staff
  10. Provide executive oversight to staff, seniors and managers and ensure work is being completed according to established timelines, quality standards and is compliant with relevant tax laws and regulations
  11. Provide clear instructions, set expectations, and delegate tasks effectively to staff, seniors, and managers
Skills and attributes for success
  1. Ability to identify and research/resolve key tax technical issues across multiple functions, when appropriate, and consult when necessary
  2. Experience organizing and leading client conversations regarding complex or difficult topics
  3. Ability to manage and mentor multiple team members delivering tax consulting and compliance projects for clients
  4. Capable of identifying improvement opportunities and actively engage in implementing improvements
To qualify for the role you must have
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Tax, Law, or Economics
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in a professional services or tax services organization in the financial services industry
  3. Proficient in the use of various tax and accounting technologies
  4. Excellent teaming, leadership, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
  5. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Enrolled Agent (EA) or licensed attorney

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $131,400 to $300,200. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $157,700 to $341,200. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
